Richard Henderson

As Chief Information Security Officer of one of the largest healthcare delivery systems in the world, Richard leads the strategic cybersecurity efforts for Alberta Health Services (AHS)—an organization that manages one of the largest and geographically expansive IT environments in Canada. Responsible for safeguarding the sensitive information and critical systems across 106 hospitals, Richard drives initiatives that balance innovation, compliance, and resilience in the face of evolving cyber threats – all while ensuring the continuity of delivery of clinical care to the 5 million Albertans AHS serves.

With a diverse and global career spanning leadership in technology, cybersecurity, and privacy, he is passionate about building and leading strong, collaborative teams capable of addressing the unique challenges of securing modern digital environments. His work also extends to engaging with global thought leaders, contributing to industry publications such as CSO, Dark Reading, and Forbes, and presenting at premier conferences, including Gartner, Forrester, and DEFCON.
