Councillor Crawford is the Regional Councillor of Ward 1 for Ajax and has lived in Ajax with her husband, 2 children and granddaughter for 28 years. Marilyn brings 18 years of experience as an elected official; the first 10 years at the Durham District School Board as a Trustee and past Chair, and 8 years as Ward 1 local councillor before being elected as Regional Councillor Ward 1.
Marilyn has a proven solid commitment to serve her community for the betterment of all. Councillor Crawford believes that communication is the foundation of building relationships and ensuring community engagement. To ensure that the community has ample opportunity to engage in dialogue with her, she holds regular community meetings to constantly communicate with her Ward 1 constituents. These meetings allow the community regular opportunities to meet to discuss issues and share information.
Since being elected as a Regional Councillor Marilyn has been involved in the introduction of 1nnvation Village (1V) in Ajax and creating new relationships with the AI Hub. 1V collaborative partnerships have been initiated with Durham College AI Hub, siberX, EC Council, OPG XLabs and Search Engine People.
Marilyn had served as council representative on the Pickering Village BIA, Library Board, Ajax Municipal Housing Board, Recreation and Cultural Committee, and Transportation Advisory Committee.
