Neil Hopkins is the IT Security Analyst at Durham College and Ontario Tech University in Oshawa. Neil entered the world of IT in 2008 when he hung up his work boots for higher education. He quickly discovered his true passion for cybersecurity and within two years he transitioned from a Level 2 Tech Support into information security.
In his current role, Neil is responsible for ensuring the security of IT systems through vulnerability scanning and network monitoring (and a million other things!); on-campus IT Security Awareness programs; and regular in-person training of the user community.
In addition, Neil has a passion for continuing education and regularly seeks out professional development and is currently developing a course on the Principles of Information Security. Neil also has a keen interest in the intersection of information security and autonomous vehicles, as a driver and lover of his own semi-autonomous vehicle.
