Mr. Krishna Sastry Pendyala is currently working as Executive Director, Cyber Security Services, Advisory, Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) India. Prior to this, Mr. Sastry worked 3.5 years with Tata Consultancy Services as Principal Consultant & Global Head, Fraud Management & Digital Forensics & 23 years with Directorate of Forensic Science, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India as Forensic Scientist and handled a large number of Cyber Forensic Investigations. Sastry examined more than 1400 cases involving digital evidence referred by various State and Central investigation agencies. His core area of expertise includes off-line & online Digital Forensic investigations, cyber security breach/ compromise assessment & investigation, Red Teaming Exercise, Threat Hunting, Incident response Management and e-discovery.
Sastry was Project Leader and Steering Group member for several Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Govt. of India, funded projects for developing Digital Forensics tools and SOP’s and instrumental in setting up of Digital Forensic Laboratories in various Central and State Law enforcement units. Through INTERPOL General Secretariat, Lyons & national central bureau (INTERPOL) India, Sastry as a subject matter expert trained Law Enforcement officials of more than 95 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Pacific regions in Electronic Fraud & cyber-crime investigations, Digital Forensics etc., at New Zealand, Fiji, Kenya, Nigeria, Estonia, Singapore, Rwanda, Senegal, Vietnam, Malaysia, Austria etc.,
Sastry received a large number of Awards, commendations, appreciation letters. A few are, “Union Home Minister Award for Meritorious Service” in the year 2004 & DFSS, Ministry of Home affairs award for “promoting new technologies in the Field of Forensic Science”. Sastry co-authored a book on Cyber Crimes & Forensics titled “Computer Crimes and Forensics” in 2001. He was the Chief reviewer of “Electronic storage of records” manual of Indian Banks Association and contributor for Cyber Crime Investigation, Cyber Crime training manual of Data Security Council of India (DSCI), “Digital Evidence Investigation Manual” of Central Board of Direct Taxes, Department of Revenue etc., Sastry currently Inter-disciplinary Standing Committee member on cyber security of Reserve Bank of India and Guest faculty/ speaker at various Universities, Training academies, Industry forums such as NASSCOM, DSCI, ISACA, CII, ISG etc.,
Sastry did his M.Sc from Andhra University, M.Tech from IIT, Varanasi and PGP in Public Policy Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore; and “Computer Forensics Initial Response Team” Professional Development Programme at Wright State University, USA. Sastry is a certified ISO 27001 LA, Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM) of ISACA, USA, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Hacking and Forensic Investigator (CHFI), DNV Certified Vulnerability Assessor and possess certifications from Department of Homeland Security (USA) and Texas A&M University on Information Risk Management, Network Assurance, Cyber Incident Analysis & Response; and Cyber Intelligence from Carnegie Mellon University. He is INTERPOL certified “Train the Trainer” in the field of Computer Forensics and completed “Executive Forensic Development Seminar” at FBI Forensic Laboratory, Quantico, USA.
