Dr. Anwar Haque is an avid researcher and a seasoned telecom industry professional with 17+ years of industry and research experience in the area of broadband networks and distributed systems. Dr. Haque received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the same institution. Currently he is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He is also appointed as Industry Expert in Residence in the faculty of Science at Western. Prior to his academic appointment at Western, he spent fifteen years of his career in Canadian Telco industry (Bell Canada) in various technical and leadership roles. Dr. Haque’s primary research areas of interest include wireless/wireline networks resources and performance management/optimization and cyber security focusing on IoT based smart services and applications. He is currently conducting cutting edge research by partnering with a number of major ICT corporations in emerging network technologies and services. He has been awarded a number of national / provincial level research grants including NSERC, MITACS, and OCE. Dr. Haque authored/co-authored many peer reviewed research publications in leading journals and conferences and authored numerous industry technical articles. He also served as program committee member for numerous IEEE international conferences, IEEE conference industry chair, scientific reviewer for reputed international journals, and invited guest speaker at various industry-academia forum; and held a number of patents/licenses. Dr. Haque is a proven champion of Canadian industry-academia partnerships. For more than a decade, his relentless effort and leadership in promoting high value multi-million ICT research projects partnering with industry, Universities, and Govt funding agencies led to many industry-academia success stories.
