Global Cyberlympics

About Global Cyberlympics

Global CyberLympics is an online cyber security competition. It pits teams from all over the world to compete in a series of challenges in the areas of Digital Forensics, Web Application Exploitation, System Exploitation, Malware Analysis, Reverse Engineering, Cryptography and Trivia that all Hackers should know! The onsite challenge will bring the finalists from all teams onsite to compete with each other.

Teams compete against players from all over the world in a 12-hour online elimination round. The two teams with the highest score from each continent will then be invited to compete in person at the Global CyberLympics World Finals event. Should team scores result in a tie, scores will be determined by the team that reached the higher score first.

Teams consist of 4 to 6 players, 18 years of age or older. The teams awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the world finals receive cash prizes.

The map above shows all of the countries that have participated in Global Cyberlympics since its inception.

Organizer / ec-council

EC-Council Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by EC-Council to raise awareness of cyber safety issues for the global community while unifying global cyber defense. EC-Council Foundation’s mission is to create a safer cyber world, by using our programs and events to advocate safer online activities.

Cyber security statistics show that the majority of security breaches are: low in difficulty, take a long time to discover, are discovered by outside parties, and are perpetrated by outsiders.Through our programs, we aim to stop malicious hacking at its core cause, while creating an opportunity for ethical hacking to be accepted and practiced without any discrimination, across all geographical boundaries for the purpose of understanding what it takes to protect and secure critical information and assets.

Are you ready for the 2019 Global Cyberlympics? Get ready to bring your A-game because registration is officially open! This year’s finals will be hosted at the Region of Durham, City of Oshawa, Canada in collaboration with the City of Oshawa and SiberX!

The Finals

If only it were that easy! In true warl0ck gam3z style, EC-Council Foundation’s Global Cyberlympics Finals for 2018 started with a set of challenges in a box that spanned from old school forensics to hacking a Bluetooth lock. What’s in the box? Simple things to get the teams started such as network and building diagrams, a dossier, a magazine for some light reading, a Bluetooth dongle, UV light, USB thumb drive, and a bunch of shredded paper.

Teams were required to reassemble their shredded document to retrieve a t0k3n that was left behind. Next was determining which printer the dossier came from and where it was located on the network using the UV light and yellow dot forensics. Then, without touching the Bluetooth lock, teams had to open it using only their computer, a PCAP file, and Bluetooth dongle.

For those teams that successfully opened the lock, they were then required to demonstrate the methods used in order to receive the networking gear which would get them access to the game board. From there, teams saw challenges ranging from network packet analysis, system exploitation, reverse engineering, malware analysis, and digital forensics along with physical challenges such as lock picking.

If you were there congrats, if you weren’t 2019 could be your year!
